Congressman Glenn Thompson Tours Chemcut Facility in Pennsylvania
Briefing Co-Hosted by IPC as Part of Continuing Effort to Connect IPC Members with Policymakers
BANNOCKBURN, Ill., July 18, 2014 – Today, Congressman Glenn Thompson (R-PA-5) visited Chemcut Corporation, an IPC member, located in State College, PA. Coordinated by IPC, the meeting was part of an effort to help policymakers learn first-hand about legislative and regulatory issues that impact the electronics manufacturing industry.
“I want to extend my appreciation to Chemcut and IPC for arranging the tour of this impressive facility and hosting today’s meeting,” said Rep. Thompson. “With high unemployment rates in the Keystone State, it critical that we continue to support local manufacturers which provide thousands of jobs to Pennsylvania workers. Chemcut is an outstanding example of U.S. innovation that helps us remain competitive in the global marketplace.”
Rep. Thompson’s visit included a tour of Chemcut’s 110,000 square foot facility. Chemcut is the global leader in developing and supplying wet processing equipment for photo chemical milling of thin metal parts, chemical engraving of signs and nameplates, etching printed circuit boards and metal finishing.
Richard Lies, Chemcut CEO, hosted the tour and led the discussion on several important policy and regulatory issues including public-private partnerships for manufacturing innovation; export controls; tax policy; and science-based environmental regulation. “On behalf of Chemcut and IPC, we thank Congressman Thompson for his continued support for the manufacturing industry,” said Lies. “We look forward to working with him on policies that help the manufacturing industry retain its competitive edge so we can continue to create jobs and innovate.”
