CHEMCUT, ATOTECH ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF NEW HORIZONTAL ELECTROLESS COPPER PROCESSING SYSTEM

March 09, 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 9, 2006

CHEMCUT, ATOTECH ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF NEW
HORIZONTAL ELECTROLESS COPPER PROCESSING SYSTEM

State College, PA Chemcut Corporation and Atotech USA, Inc. announce the release of a new market-sized Horizontal Electroless Copper Processing System designated the Model 990D. At just 41′ long and 71″ wide, the system is designed to fit the needs of current North American plating operations. The Model 990D Electroless Copper System offers advanced design and operating features that are based on extensive experience in the development and manufacturing of systems designed to meet the critical requirements of the precision processing market.
The Model 990D was developed in close cooperation with Atotech, the PCB supplier who can look back to experiences with more than 120 large scale PTH- and more than 300 horizontal plating-systems in production; however not every company needs the larger processing systems to achieve their plating goals. Chemcut and Atotech worked together closely to develop a market-sized processing system designed to reliably process thick boards and small holes, cover blind vias, and handle thin material without frames or special equipment. Add to these traits reduced cycle times, improved yields, and lower operating costs, and the 990D is ideal for small- to medium-sized plating operations.
In announcing the Model 990D’s release, Chemcut CEO & General Manager, Rick Lies stated, “Anytime two companies like Chemcut and Atotech, organizations with strong reputations for technological leadership and dedication to quality, work together on a common vision the final product is going to be outstanding, and the Model 990D is proof of that.” Lies continued, “The Model 990D was designed to meet the needs of today’s PCB market and answers the call for smaller, more efficient, and more versatile processing systems.”
Compunetics, a Monroeville, PA based PCB manufacturer, was the first to purchase the Model 990D; Mr. Adeodato Vigano Operations Manger for Compunetics commented on their decision ?After extensive testing of the technologies available to the market, the decision to go with Chemcut’s Model 990D and Atotech’s chemistry was a very easy one to make. We look forward to this installation that we believe will represent a significant improvement in the quality of our process.  Compunetics produces PCBs for the defense, aerospace, communication, high-speed computing, medical, and semiconductor markets in its state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot facility.
